Investment in Broadcast
Sustainability
Kansas City PBS continuously focuses on its ability to serve audiences today and for generations. As technology evolves and
media landscapes change, investments in the infrastructure that powers public media ensure that trusted programming,
local storytelling and essential community services remain accessible to everyone across our region.
This commitment to the future came to life in the fall of 2025 when Kansas City PBS completed a major upgrade to its
broadcast technology, replacing its aging transmitter with a state-of-the-art system that will provide a stronger, more
reliable signal for the next 25 years.
This massive project was made possible by the incredible support of our community through a multiyear capital campaign,
planned and executed to support building renovations and signi昀椀cant technology upgrades. Establishing a more stable and
dependable signal is a testament to our shared commitment to keeping public media strong in Kansas City.
As audiences increasingly engage with content through digital platforms, Kansas City PBS is continuing to invest in
innovative ways to connect online and on demand. At the same time, this transmitter upgrade recognizes that over-theair broadcasting remains a critical service for many households across our region, ensuring equitable access to the trusted
content and resources our community depends on.
